The Reverend David Hood:


Pastor David Hood is originally from Nashville, TN, growing up in the Donelson area.  He graduated from Two Rivers High School and received a BA in Sociology from Middle Tennessee State University.  He received his Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC. Ordained in 1976, Pastor David has served parishes in Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina.  He served on a team ministry in North Carolina at UNC-Chapel Hill in both congregation and campus ministry.  He was an Assistant to the Bishop of the Southeastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (1992-1998). David and Jo have been married for 44 years and are parents of three adult daughters, all working as teachers and living in Murfreesboro, TN with their husbands and children.  David and Jo love being close to their five grandchildren ranging in age from 13 to 1 year old.


The Reverend Dr. Delmer Chilton: 

Pastor Emeritus

Pastor Delmer Chilton is currently the Interim Pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran, Athens, GA.  Previously, he was Pastor-in-Charge of the Episcopal Church of the Messiah in Murphy, NC.  Delmer is from Mount Airy, NC  and received his education at the University of North Carolina (BA Sociology), Duke Divinity School (Master of Divinity), the Graduate Theological Foundation (Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Direction), and the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC. (Lutheran Certification)  Ordained in 1977, Pastor Chilton has served parishes in North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee; as Coordinator of Spiritual Formation Ministries at the Hinton Center in Hayesville, NC; and as an Assistant to the Bishop of the Southeastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (2008-2012). Delmer and Deborah have been married for 38 years and are parents of two adult sons; David, a computer design engineer at Microsoft and a ministerial student at Seattle University; and Joseph, a recent graduate of the UNC School of Law who is now working with the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.


David Dorn:

Minister for Music 

David is a passionate and versatile pianist who has played piano since the age of 6. He grew up in South Carolina playing in churches starting at the age of 8 and studied classical piano for over 20 years. He was accepted into the prestigious South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts where he studied piano with some of the top classical pianist in the world. 

 After graduating from the Governor's School, he was accepted to Erskine College where he received a full scholarship to study piano. He studied at Erskine for two years before deciding to transfer to Belmont University. He quickly recognized that being in Nashville would provide more opportunities as a musician and Belmont had a great reputation for its music department. Shortly after moving, David was appointed as  the music director at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where he still serves today. After graduating, David built his own studio off of music row where he produces  demos for many songwriters and independent artist. He is presently playing sessions for many of the top songwriters in Nashville. When not in the studio or out on the road, David enjoys writing and hanging out with his talented wife as well as hiking and drinking a good cup of joe with friends.
